OPENING FOR THE POSITION OF MUNICIPAL TREASURER

The Municipal District of Willow Creek No. 26 is located approximately 1 hour south of Calgary, along the beautiful foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The M.D. is seeking an experienced Municipal Treasurer, on a full time basis.

The Municipal District of Willow Creek No. 26 boasts many amenities within its boundaries.  Recreation, education and health services are abundant throughout the region. The farming and ranching culture that dominates in the region contributes significantly to the excellent quality of life experienced in Willow Creek.

The successful candidate shall report to the Chief Administrative Officer and be responsible for ensuring the proper, efficient financial operation of the municipality in accordance with The Municipal Government Act, municipal policies and established accounting principles.  Duties will include but are not limited to:

• Preparation of budgets, analysis, and financial statements
• Preparation of monthly receipt and payment statements and bank reconciliations
• Regular review of accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Regular review of payroll
• Tangible Capital Asset management and maintenance of capital ledgers
• Regular review of insurance coverage
• Monthly reporting to the C.A.O. and to Council regarding all areas pertaining to financial management
• Research and preparation of grant applications
• Costing of projects including roads, buildings, and programs.
• Collaboration with department heads to ensure proper budgets are established and maintained

Those candidates with an accounting designation and/or a combination of experience and training shall be considered for this position.

Salary range is $67,000 to $75,000 per annum depending on experience.
