Flood Information June 2014

The objective of Emergency Management is to provide for a prompt and coordinated response to emergencies that affect The Municipal District of Willow Creek No. 26.

A Municipal Emergency Plan was developed to give direction for any emergency, such as flooding on Willow Creek, Oldman River, Waterton River, Belly River, and Pine Coulee Dam; sour gas release; severe weather; grass wildfire; dangerous goods road accidents; and aircraft accidents.


If you have an emergency, contact 9-1-1 immediately.


We will be updating Facebook and our website regularly as we recieve updates on flooding within the MD.

Update: 7:45pm June 17, 2014


Thank you to everyone who is visting Facebook and Twitter for flood updates. Since 8:30 this morning, the M.D's Facebook page has had over 5000 visits

The Oldman River is now flowing bank to bank.

Belly and Waterton Rivers are continuing to rise.

Willow Creek is still rising and is now flowing bank to bank at Hart's Bridge.

Do not approach the rivers when they are in flood stage. The M.D. is also requesting the travelling public to avoid these areas for your own safety.

As a precaution the Town of Fort Macleod has been notified to prepare, in case a reception center may be required at the community hall. Updates will be provided at this site.

Again, the M.D. cautions all those who live along the rivers to keep a careful watch on the flows and if you feel your safety may be compromised, leave the area, before your exits are blocked. If you leave the area, please call the M.D. office at (403) 625-3351 ext 0 or email at [email protected]
