Order No. 118, Defining Maximum Allowable Weights Permitted on Certain Municipal Roads.

 

               Pursuant to the authority granted under the provisions of By-Law No. 748, the Vehicle Weight Committee Orders effective March 10, 2008.

SINGLE, SEMI and TRAIN

The values given for the SINGLE, SEMI and TRAIN configurations are the maximum allowable gross vehicle weight, in tones, for that configuration or classification of vehicles.

NOTE:  Axle Weight Reduction for Restricted Bridges

If a posted weight restriction indicates that the carrying capacity of a bridge is less than the maximum permitted gross weight of a combination of vehicles, the reduction of gross weight of the vehicles must be divided equally among all of the carrying axles of the vehicles.

TRI-Drive and TRI-Trailer

The values given under the TRI-Drive and TRI-Trailer configurations are the maximum permitted weight for a tridem axle group.  The TRI-Drive category is for Tridem drive axles (Tractor and/or truck units) and the TRI-Trailer category is for tridem trailer axle group (2.40 to 2.99 metre spread tridems cannot exceed the lesser of the listed restriction or 21 tonnes).

If the weight restriction indicated “See Note”, then the maximum allowable weight on the tridem group would be determined as per the “Axle Weight Reduction for Restricted Bridges” noted above.
